Imphal, August 31: Six ZRA cadres were arrested along with a huge consignment of arms and ammunition by a patrol party of the 28 CRPF on August 29 at about 11 pm at IB Road, Veng T Junction Churachandpur while they were moving in a Maruti Gypsy (MN02-2295).In a statement, 28 CRPF said that the Maruti Gypsy belongs to the son of MLA and HAC Chairman Songchinkhup and identified him as Tual Mingthan.

The CRPF troops also seized one photo ID card issued by the 57 Mountain Division (Int.

and FS Coy), Leimakhong with validity period from 9/4/05 to 31/12/05 from one of the arrested cadres identified as David K Ngaihte (27). The ID card was issued for intelligence gathering by the ZRA cadre, informed CRPF.

The other five ZRA cadres arrested along with arms have been named as Chinliaulal (23) of Mualzin (seized one AK-47 rifle, 2 AK magazines and 55 bullets of AK-47), I Dongtuam (28) of Kangkap (one AK 47 rifle, 2 AK magazines and 60 AK bullets), Pumkhandong of Chingmun (one M-16 rifle with magazine serial number 14325, one M-16 magazine and 51 M-16 bullets), Kamlianthang (22) of Songtal (one 9 mm pistol, one 9 mm magazine and 13 bullets of 9 mm) and T Vimthianlal (27) of New Lamka (one .32 pistol, one magazine of .32 pistol and nine bullets of .32 pistol).

CRPF said that two persons of the ZDV who they had abducted were also rescued by the CRPF men.

They are identified as P Khanlal (41) and Khanasuamtian (21) both of Headquarters Veng.

They were being taken to New Lamka.

The statement further said that the ZRA have been indulging in prejudicial activities with the intention to threaten the unity, integrity and security of the State and striking terror among the people of not only Churachandpur district but also in the neighbouring districts and kidnapping people for ransom.
