Imphal, August 31:
Unidentified gunmen shot dead a youth near the Community Hall at Sekmai, just 300 metres north of Sekmai Police Station last night.
The slain youth has been identified as Khumanthem Indrajit alias Tondon (24) s/o Ibochou of Leikinthabi Awang Leikai.
According to his family members, Indrajit had gone out along with two other local friends on bicycles to see a fair being held at Sekmai last evening.
Police picked up the body and deposited the same at the mortuary of RIMS hospital today morning.
There were two fatal bullet marks near his left eyebrow and head.
Police also claimed to have recovered two empty cartridges from the site of the crime.
Meanwhile, Awang Leikinthabi Nupi Chaokhat Lup and Awang Leikinthabi Modern Youth Association have strongly condemned the killing and said Indrajit was an innocent person and a sportsman.
In separate statements, the two bodies demanded to know the group/persons responsible for the killing and the reason behind the act of killing an innocent person.
They also demanded the authorities concerned to arrest the killers and warned that they would be constrained to launch a series of agitation with the co-operation of the people if the demand is not fulfil.
One shot at: A 29 year old youth had been admitted to RIMS Hospital after being shot at and injured by unidentified gunmen at Tera Lukram Leirak around 7 pm today.
Identity of the hospitalised person has been established as one Oinam Krishna s/o O Ibopishak of Tera Yengkhom Leirak, Krishna, informed to be running a chicken centre suffered injuries on the right thigh and calf.
