A one day workshop on border trade and improvisation of export-import transaction was held at the border town of Moreh on October 17 under the aegis of North East Federation on International Trade (NEFIT).
Addressing the workshop held at the office of Meetei Council Moreh (MCM), its president L Imobi asked any businessmen desirous to engage in border trading to consult the local people of Moreh.
He asked them to verify the prices of goods from voluntary organisations and to seek recommendation from such organisations based at the border town.
Taking part in the workshop, president of Hill Tribal Council (HTC) Moreh, Tengkhao Haokip observed that the border town still remained backward in terms of development.
Appealing to all concerned to give up narrow thinking and short sightedness, he pledged full cooperation to NEFIT from the side of HTC and MCM to revive and expand the border trade through Moreh.
In response, NEFIT invited interested traders to go together with it under a new and viable principle with the long term objective of paving way for a huge international trade through Moreh for the future generations.
NEFIT, Manipur Chapter was represented in the workshop by M Chandrakeshore and I Rajendra.
