Stating that this is an occasion to celebrate goodwill and better understanding amongst all communities irrespective of caste, creed and religion, Governor Dr SS Sidhu has greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali.
He also prayed that this Diwali may herald a new era of peace, prosperity and harmony in the trouble torn State of Manipur.
Conveying his best wishes for a happy Diwali to the people of Manipur, Chief Minister O Ibobi prayed that this festival of lights radiate happiness and prosperity in every home of the State forever.
Greeting the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, IG AR (S) Maj Gen BK Chengapa wished that this festival promote peace and brotherhood in the State.
Meanwhile, on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakkouba and id-ul-fitre festivals being celebrated on october 24 and 25 respectively, the Kabui Mothers� Association (Kakhulong), Manipur University Muslim Students� Union and United Committee Manipur have conveyed hearty greetings to the people of Manipur and expressed hope that the festivals would lead to an era of peace, tranquillity and prosperity to the strive stricken people.
In its message the UCM also highlighted necessity of limiting festival expenditures by using and presenting indigenous products as gifts to the sisters.
