The augmented phase III of Wangoo Water Supply Plant was inaugurated today by PHED Minister TN Haokip.
The inaugural function was also attended by Sugnu A/C MLA and chairman of PDA K Ranjit and LDA chairman N Loken as guests of honour.
Speaking as chief guest on the occasion, TN Haokip said that the water supply plant inaugurated today would be able to provide safe drinking water to many villages which have been unknown to water for the last many years.
Saying that no scheme could be inaugurated once the election notification is issued, he disclosed that a large number of water pipes are being stranded outside the State for various reasons.
Nevertheless, he pledged that the remaining villages, for which the pipe lines are yet to be laid, would be provided tap water by extending pipe line once pipes arrived.
MLA Loken observed that there were protest demonstrations when the Department concerned failed to take up development activities but there have no such demonstrations when the implementing agencies failed to maintain work quality.
He also hailed the development works undertaken by MLA K Ranjit in Sugnu A/C.In his presidential speech, MLA Ranjit said that he felt ashamed when he was blocked to participate in a political conference in his own constituency.
Yet he pledged that he would put his best efforts for the welfare of Sugnu A/C people.
He asserted that he would only welcome if some persons or a political party want to organise a meeting at his own locality of Serou.
He also appealed to all concern to give up petty politics in the larger interest of the State.
