A three-day workshop on Evaluation and question setting for teachers of recognised private schools has begun from today at Johnstone Higher Secondary School.
The workshop is being organised jointly by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and All Manipur Recognised Private Schools� Welfare Association, Manipur, an apex body of all the recognised private schools in Manipur.
Around four teachers coming from various private schools are taking part in the workshop.
Former Vice Chancellor of Manipur University Dr IS Khaidem, former Chairman of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur S Kunjabihari Singh and former Chairman of Council of Higher Secondary Education, Minister L Raghumani Singh inaugurated the workshop as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Among those who spoke at the occasion, Deputy Secretary of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur Mangi stressed on the need to reform the conduct of the examination being followed currently in Manipur.
Association Advisor S Manaoton presented a comparative study of the various examination pattern being followed by various Boards while drawing the attention to the need of bringing about some improvement in the system being followed in Manipur.
Other resource persons and guests also noted the urgency of bringing bout some reformation in the pattern of evaluation and question setting being followed in Manipur and appreciated the efforts being made by the Association in this regard.
Chandel teachers� resolutions: An emergency meeting of Unapproved Primary Teachers� Association under Chandel Autonomous District Council was held yesterday where-in members present resolved to call on the Tribal Development and Hills Minister this month to urge the incumbent finalise the case of its 144 Association members.
The meeting held at the Chandel district headquarters also decided to submit representations to the Dept concerned, chief Minister, Chief Secretary and other officials to find an amicable resolution failing which the Assn would be compelled to launch agitation including closure of offices of the District Council Chandel and DC.
While endorsing Govt proposal to hold fresh DPC for recruitment of primary teachers under the ADC, Chandel in order to address shortage of teachers under the ADC, the Association cautioned intending candidates (fresh) to be aware of State Govt�s malpractices.
