Influential tribal NGOs of Meghalaya today set a one week ultimatum to the state government to come clean on the progress of the implementation of its commitment and on the suggestions received to curb the enrolment of "dubious" voters.
"The government should come clean on the progress of the implementation of its commitments based on the suggestions given by us within a week," Khasi Students' Union (KSU) president Daniel Khyriem told reporters here.
This new deadline was served by three NGOs the Khasi Students' Union (KSU), Federation of Khasi Jaintia & Garo People (FKJGP) and the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF)in the wake of the alleged failure of the government to put into task the commitments given to them on May 15 .
