Ukhrul, June 05 2012:
A high-profile meeting of the Tangkhul bodies scheduled tomorrow has been speculated to raise an agenda on the "standing boycott call" against the Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (ADC) and is likely to take a far-reaching decision on certain political matters.
The consultative meeting in Ukhrul on Wednesday, which is reportedly to be held under the aegis of traditional body of Tangkhul chiefs - Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (TNWL), is seen as "high-profile" on a merit that the agenda would focus on political issues and a probable attendance of some senior leaders of NSCN (IM) as resource persons.
It has also invited representatives of different Tangkhul frontal organisations for topical discussion on "On Birth Right" .
According to reliable reports, tomorrow's meeting would deliberate on the "boycott call" against the Ukhrul ADC and may hammer out a significant decision on whether to lift the long-standing sanction imposed on the shunted elected representatives.
On June 7, a highly-placed source said, a closed-door meeting will be held strictly for members of TNWL and senior NSCN leaders.
The confidential discussion is expected to focus mainly on parliamentary polls due in 2014.The talks are likely on the Naga Peoples Front (NPF) candidature and who should be "blessed" by the Nagas.
In an unusual deviation, this time, the Tangkhul consultative programme is being hosted by TNWL.
The meeting as such by regular practice is normally organised by Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL).
This context has evoked questions among the close watchers of Naga politics prompting to speculate that the NSCN (IM) is training its attention on different turfs for better impact in Indian electoral politics.
Reliable sources said the NSCN, after the electoral politics have yielded "different result" in the last few years, is now looking at different levels to invest its "intellectual and financial resources" .
