Orders issued for admitting all students

Imphal, June 05 2012:
All those eligible students who have applied for admission in the three Government Higher Secondary Schools in Imphal will be admitted.
An order to this effect was issued by the Principals of the three schools, namely TG Higher Secondary School, CC Higher Secondary School and Johnstone School today, a day after Education Minister M Okendro categorically stated that 'it is of no use being a Minister if he is not able to provide admissions to all students in government schools' .
Earlier today, a joint meeting of the Education Minister and the Principals of the three schools was convened.
In the meeting, the Education Minister conveyed the decision of the state government to allow all students who have applied for admission in the three Government Higher Secondary Schools.
Consequently, the three Principals issued necessary orders in this regard.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, T Promodini, Principal of TG Higher Secondary School informed that as usual 206 students have already been admitted in her school in the Science stream in class XI.
However, the remaining 1000 students who have applied for admission in science stream would also be admitted within a week's time starting from June 7, 2012.For the Arts stream, another 200 students, who have submitted application forms, would be admitted.
Considering the poor infrastructural set up in TG Higher Secondary School in the light the order for admitted every eligible student, officials of Engineering cell, Education department have come to inspect the existing classrooms and other infrastructures in the School today, Pramodini disclosed, adding that after the inspection, the officials have given assurance that the building will be extended.
In the new building block, not less than four classrooms will be added and six rooms in the old building, she added.
Pramodini expressed confidence that the increase of students will give more strength to take on the students of Private Higher Secondary schools in the examination.
On the other hand, S Indramani, Principal of CC Higher Secondary school has informed that out of 654 students who have applied for admission in the school in science stream, the 434 students, who were left out, will now given admission.
As for arts stream, 100 students, who were debarred from admissions, will now be admitted.
These students can get admitted within a week's time starting from June 9, 2012, the Principal assured.
Subsequent to the meeting of the Education Minister M Oken along with the Principals of the three schools today, the last date of issuing and submission of forms for admission in Johnstone Higher Secondary School too has been extended till June 11 .
She informed that the cut off percentage for admission in Science stream has been reduced to 45% from 50% .
However, for arts and commerce stream, there is no cut off mark and all students who passed class X Board exam are eligible for admission in class XI .
