Imphal, June 05 2012:
Decrying the alleged apathy to various schools located at Poumai villages, the Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (Poumai students' union) has drawn the attention of the concerned department over the deteriorating and pathetic buildings of several schools in Senapati district.
A statement issued by the students' union pointed out that schools at Khongdei, Shimphung, Chingmai Khullen, Chingmai Khunou, Keize, Laii Shirafii were in a pathetic state though the schools have a large number of students.
It further conveyed its disappointment over the appointment of only two teachers at Lai Shirafii LP school where there are over hundred students.
The statement added that many children often get sick as classes were taken in open room where there has been no proper roofs and infrastructure.
Alleging the government of neglecting to upgrade the Laii Shirafii Aided LP School to UJB level, the PNTM urged the concerned department to look into the matter while also warning to take up agitation if the authority fails to do so.
