A man who used to fell timber collected from Langol Reserve Forest and carry them on bicycle after cutting them in the form of logs has been apprehended by Forest Department officials.
Forest and Environment Minister Th Shyamkumar Th Shyamkumar told media persons that the man who is employed as a lineman in the State Electricity Department was apprehended yesterday at around 5.30 am.
The man had cut down pine trees into logs and piled them inside a power house located within Langol Reserve Forest.
Informing that necessary legal action would be taken up against the lumberjack.
While appealing to all the people to come forward and protect forests collectively, Th Shyamkumar asked all encroachers in reserved forest areas including Langol Reserve Forest to vacate all the areas they have been occupying within one month to avoid legal action.
He further informed that an extensive tree plantation campaign would be launched next month.
