Imphal, June 20 2017:
Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) has started surveying private schools to ascertain whether the schools were set up and functioning as per the rules and regulations laid out by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOHSEM) and Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM).
Informing this in a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here today, convenor of Private Schools Survey Committee, SSUM Yumnam Rishikanta said that BOHSEM, COHSEM and Education Department will be urged to initiate necessary action against those schools flouting the guidelines.
He said that the union had started inspecting private high schools and higher secondary schools in Imphal city from June 1 last.
Facilities and functioning of around 30 schools were inspected by the union.
Out of the 30, around 12 schools were found set up against the guidelines, he claimed.
Asking as to how recognition was given to the schools, he said that Education Department will be urged to take up action against such schools.
Names and details of the schools which were found flouting the guidelines will not be revealed as of now.
However, the same will be done when time comes, Rishikanta added.
