Financial crunch cripples JEE passed student

Despite securing 7086th rank in the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2017 conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), future of Ningthoujam Rapsan is at stake as his family is not in a position to incur admission fee.
Addressing newspersons at Manipur Press Club today, Ng Rapsan of Khangabok Sorok Wangma, Thoubal district expressed apprehension that his dream of studying at IIT Kharagpur may be dashed as his family is reeling under immense financial crunch.
He said that total fees for studying at the reputed institute is around Rs 4 lakh including admission fee of Rs 80,000 .
The college has a big library so there will be no problem as far as study material is concerned, he said.
Rapson narrated that after clearing Class XII examination from JNV Pune, he sat for the JEE (Main) 2017 in which he fetched 7846th position.
He said that he had faced the tough examination without getting any coaching classes.
Prior to admission to the institute, one has to take part in counselling to be started from July 1.Admission process will begin after 15 days, said Rapsan who was visibly emotional.
Rapsan's mother Purnimashi who is a street vendor said that her husband Manaoyaima could no longer work due to an illness.
She expressed regret over their family's financial condition, saying her hard work is proving not enough to fulfil her son's dream and appealed for financial assistance.
