Imphal, September 12, 2010:
A total of 173 freight trucks arrived at Imphal via NH-39 today with security escort.
No untoward incidents were reported on the way, a police source said.
Out of the total of 173 freight trucks there were 22 are oil tankers and five bullet tankers while the rest were carrying grocery and other items.
On the other hand, another 140 empty trucks including 31 oil tankers crossed Mao gate to lift goods from outside the state.
Previously, on Saturday also, a total of 212 freight trucks including 16 oil tankers and six bullet tankers had reached Imphal safely.
Meanwhile, only 15 freight trucks were escorted back to Imphal by the Assam Rifles via NH-53. The trucks left Jiribam on September 4 but arrived Imphal only today.
On the same day, a total of 659 freight trucks were also headed for Imphal.
Yet other trucks were still on the way, reports said.
