The Zero Garbage Campaign launched by Chief Minister, O Ibobi a month back is in progress with a series of awareness programmes held at various places in Imphal Municipal areas under the initiative of local MLAs, local clubs and NGOs.
Today, awareness programmes were held at Nepra Manjor Leikai Pukhri Mapal in Sagolband A/C and at Laikhutlembi Lampak, Uripok A/C. In the campaign which will continue for two months, awareness programmes have been held at 10 different places in Thangmeiband A/C which kick started the campaign which will cover seven A/Cs in Imphal Municipality.
The campaign will cover all the 27 wards of the Imphal Municipal Council (IMC).
The director of Manipur Housing and Urban Development (MAHUD) is the overall in-charge of the campaign which is being taken up in association with the IMC authority.
The first three best performance clubs or NGOs will be awarded Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 while consolation prices of Rs 5000 will be awarded to other clubs and NGOs participating in the campaign.
Separate cash awards will also be given to three wards of the IMC for best performances.
The best ward performance award will carry an amount of Rs.50,000 with Rs 30, 000 to the second best performer and Rs 20,000 to the third best.
