Even as the AICC central election authority deputed Manipur in-charge Sanjay Dadlika has elicited opinions of PCC members and DCC presidents and forwarded the same to the AICC, there is still no word from New Delhi.
As such, it remains undecided as to who would file nomination paper as consensus candidate for post of MPCC president.
In accordance to instruction of the AICC, Sanjay Dadlika, after collecting opinions of PCC members and DCC presidents on their choice between Gaikhangam and Dwijamani with a view to elect a consensus candidate, sent a report to the AICC high command.
Sanjay Dadlika who arrived at Imphal yesterday met MPCC president Gaikhangam and Chief Minister Okram Ibobi.
Of the 75 members constituting the electoral college of the MPCC presidential election, only 60 gave their opinions.
Incidentally, tomorrow is the last date for filing nomination papers for the 28th MPCC presidential election.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan after collecting opinions of the PCC members, Dadlika said that the presidential election will be held in a free and fair manner in line with the party�s constitution.
"As members of the same family, I have talked with the PCC members to elect a consensus candidate", he said adding that efforts were being made to bring a conducive atmosphere for the benefit of the State and the party.
