Imphal, February 21 2011:
Manipuri Sahitya Parishad today observed the 'International Mother Tongue Day' at the Mini Auditorium of the Parishad.
Elangbam Sonamani presided over the function.
In a press release, the parishad stated that UNESCO adopted February 21 as 'International Mother Tongue Day' to preserve various mother tongues spoken by people of different communities in the world.
RK Jhaljit and N Kunjamohon talked on the values and the importance of mother tongues.
