Two UGs arrested

Imphal, February 21 2011:
Two UG cadres, one suspected NSCN(IM) and the other, a PLA cadre, allegedly involved in extortions from vehicles plying on NH 39 were nabbed, police source said today.
RK Luthar (22) son of RK Kangba of Mayangkhang village, a suspected cadre of the NSCN(IM) was caught by personnel of 6th Bn IRB guarding Henbung Composite Check Post under Senapati police last Saturday.
IRB personnel nabbed him while he was demanding money from two loaded trucks heading for Imphal from Dimapur around 6.30 pm of the day, police said.
On the same day, a PLA cadre identified as Longjam Arun alias Arunkumar (43) of Yairipok was nabbed by a combined team of police commandos and AR from Makhan village of Senapati under Sekmai PS.
He was nabbed during a search in the village based on a tip-off of the presence of some extortionists who were kidnapping people for ransom.
A 9 mm pistol with a magazine loaded with two live rounds and Rs.83,000 in cash were seized from him, police said.
