The Umar Farooque faction of the proscribed outfit People's United Liberation Front (PULF) has handed over a suspected member of the rival Azad faction abducted earlier to his family members safely as he was found to be innocent during the course of interrogation.
The man who has been released from captivity and reunited with his family is identified as Md Salatur Rahman (39) s/o late Md Abdul Kadir of Lilong Turel Ahanbi.
He is said to be an assistant teacher in Lilong Abdul Ali High Madrassa.
Before handing him over to the family members, Md Salatur Rahman was paraded before mediapersons by the Thoubal district commander of the outfit.
Speaking to mediapersons at the occasion, the commander said that Md Salatur was abducted on receiving report of his alleged connection with the rival Azad faction on November 24.However, after three days of interrogation, it was confirmed that he had no such connection.
So he would be handed over to his family members safely.
Md Salatur Rahman expressed gratitude for not subjecting him to any sort of atrocities while in the custody of the outfit and said that he would dedicate his life in his teaching profession only.
Meanwhile, charging them with discrimination in carrying out their duties for the welfare of the people, the outfit in a statement, has asked Joint Director of Agriculture Dept RK Noyonsana Devi of Palace Compound, EE in charge of Agri K Manoranjan Singh of Konjeng Leikai and CDO Agri L Ibochou Singh of Thangmeiband and other scheme officers concerned to surrender within November 30.In case of failure to do so, the outfit would punish them without giving any prior warning.
