As widely expected, the dissident MLAs who have launched a no holds barred oust Ibobi campaign have chosen Th Debendra as their leader.
As reported earlier, Th Debendra, elected from Jiribam Assembly Constituency and currently the Law Minister was given a grand reception by the dissident MLAs when he landed at Delhi yesterday and he was whisked away to the rebel camp.
MPCC (I) president Gaikhangam who recently returned to Imphal from Delhi left for the National capital today again and he got in touch with the rebel MLAs to chart out future course of action, informed a a source from the rebel camp while talking to The Sangai Express today evening.
The source said that Gaikhangam and Debendra discussed the administrative lapses in Manipur with the rebel MLAs as well as the law and order situation and all agreed to work unitedly to put the State back on the track of governance.
During the meeting the rebel MLAs unanimously agreed to appoint Debendra as their leader leader to replace Ibobi.
However the appointment of Debendra as the leader of the rebel MLAs is yet to be announced officially.
The rebel MLAs will study what the AICC wants, said the source and added that this is in line with the earlier decision taken by the dissidents.
Earlier, the dissident MLAs had decided to allow the AICC choose the man to replace Ibobi.
