Imphal, February 07, 2011:
A wild fawn reportedly rescued from the hands of hunters has been handed over to the Chief Wild Life Warden and subsequently taken to Manipur Zoological Garden today.
The young deer was rescued from the hands of hunters at Awang Khul in Tamenglong district by one Lairikyengbam Chandrasekhar of Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak about four months.
Chandrasekhar reportedly paid Rs 1500 to the hunters in exchange for the fawn.
After nurturing the fawn with milk and other foods for the last four months, Chandrasekhar handed over the fawn to Additional Chief Conservator of Forest (Wild Life) A Kharsiing today.
Chandrasekhar had also handed a species of the monkey to the Manipur Zoological Garden a few years back.
Additional Chief Conservator of Forest (Wild Life) A Kharsiing appreciated the concern shown by Chandrasekhar for wild life and the environment.
