Jailed teachers begin fast unto death

Arrested teachers of the Council of Teachers � Association (COTA) has begun fast unto death in the jail where they are lodging from today morning even as hunger strike stir at Johsntone Higher Secondary School, Imphal continued.
Police have arrested 123 teachers so far in connection with the stir of COTA.
When the teachers inside the jail continued their stir inside the jail from today morning, jail authority tried to force feed them.
However the teachers did not accept the force feeding and began their stir.
Meanwhile, teachers of Konthoujam Assembly Constituency today decided to boycott the ensuing Konthoujam AC by election if the state government does not issue implementation order of the 6th Central Pay in toto before the election.
The decision was taken in a meeting held at the office premises of Heigrujam High School today.
More than 200 teachers and their family members in Konthoujam A/C will be boycotting the election which will be a major setback to the contesting candidates in the by election.
In the meantime, more than 600 teachers gathered today in a meeting held at Community hall of Senapati district headquarter and resolved to participate in the stir of COTA supporting their demand.
The meeting resolved to participate in the stir by 10 teachers each in every batch of the COTA's stir.
