Imphal, February 07, 2011:
A public meeting held at Sawombung today has exerted pressure on the Government to identify and book all those involved in the killing of constable Sunder.
Along with formation of a JAC during the meeting, a memorandum has also been submitted to the Chief Minister highlighting various demands and setting February 9 as the deadline for fulfilling these demands.
The JAC has also warned of launching intense agitations if these demands are not met within the said deadline.
The memorandum demanded that the killers of Sunder should be arrested before the scheduled date of his proposed marriage and extend every possible assistance to the bereaved family.
Constable Sunder was scheduled to get marry on February 9.But he was shot dead by some unidentified armed persons who came in a Maruti car at his residential gate located near Sawombung Forest gate last night.
The JAC demanded that younger brother of the deceased Constable should be provided a suitable Government job and the State Government should accord full honour to slain Constable.
Talking to mediapersons in this connection, co-convenor of JAC W Birenkumar informed that the decision of the JAC to impose road block along Imphal-Ukhrul Road and Sagolmang Road with effect from 5 am to 5 pm tomorrow has been suspended following the assurance given by the Chief Minister over its demands.
On the other hand, the bereaved family members have expressed suspicion over the possibility of involvement of family members of the would be bride in the killing.
Babina Devi (22), sister of the slain Constable informed that just after the incident of killing last night, the would be bride identified as Sairem Sandhyarani telephoned to her asking whether the news was correct.
On top of this, none of the people from the side of the would be bride have come to inquire about the incident.
Elders from the side of the bereaved family have gone to the house of the would be bride at Khurai Puthiba Leikai today.
But the house was found locked and none could be found.
Some of the local people said that they have been arrested by the police while the others said that Sandhyarani fainted and all the family members have gone to the hospital, Babina said, adding that no one in Khurai Puthiba Leikai also knew about the impending marriage of Sandhyarani.
It is said that Nilkamal, father of Sandhyarani, is originally from Patlou Mayai Leikai and shifted house at Khurai Puthiba Leikai.
Today's public meeting had also issued a clarion call to all the UG groups to come out with a clarification on the incident of killing constable Sunder within five days.
