A newly constructed building of Thangtong Higher Secondary School was inaugurated today by Education Minister L Jayantakumar today.
The new building for the lone Government school in Saikul constituency was constructed at the cost of Rs one crore with funding from Special Plan Assistance.
The inaugural function was attended by Education Minister L Jayantakumar as chief guest, Saikul A/C MLA Doukhomang Khongsai as president and Kshetrigao A/C MLA Th Nandakishore as guest of honour.
Even as necessary fund for construction of teachers' quarters and toilets in the SPA plan allocation of 2008-09 and duly sanctioned along with the requisite fund for construction of the new school building, quarters and toilets have not been constructed.
Speaking at the occasion, Jayantakumar informed that Thangtong Hr Sec School has been included among the 22 schools selected from across the country by the Ministry of Human Resource Development for the RMSA scheme.
Requisite infrastructure and equipment for the school would be provided under this scheme, Jayantakumar said.
Stating that the State Government is serious about the transfer and posting policy of teachers, the Education Minister conceded that it is no easy task to enforce the policy fully in Education Department where there is maximum number of Government employees.
Nevertheless, teachers would be removed from schools where there are extra teachers and transferred to schools where there are shortage of teachers, he said.
Referring to the proverb, "Rome was not built in a day", Doukhomang Khongsai said that the requirements of Saikul A/C cannot be fulfilled in a day or two.
As such, people need to have patience.
If there is peace, development will automatically follow.
For this, every people need to cooperate with each other in order to restore peace in Saikul A/C, Doukhomang said.
The inaugural function was also attended by officials of Education Department, PWD and Members of Sadar Hills ADC.
