The Spastic Society of Manipur today launched "Mobile early intervention cum Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) project", a pilot project sponsored by the National Trust for Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The project which is said to be the first ever in India was launched in a function held at the office of the Spastic Society, Ghari with 9 sector Assam Rifles commander Brigadier Gajendra Prasad as chief guest.
Secretary Tokendra of the society presided the function in which singers Hamom Sadananda and Sarita Gazmer attended as guests of honour.
On the occasion, three disabled sportspersons, Th Joykumar, Yumkhaibam Shyamkumar and Sarangthem Arunkumar, who had bagged medals in the Asian Arms Wrestling Championship held in Guwahati recently, were felicitated.
