The Nupilan and Khongjom War Memorial Society has blamed the alleged faulty recruitment process resorted to by Police Department during recruitment of Village Defence Force (VDF) for all the awkward incidents caused by VDF.
Speaking to media persons at Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai this afternoon, secretary of the society Y Indrani lauded the Government for providing job to youngsters who were otherwise unemployed by absorbing them in VDF.
However, there were certain areas in the recruitment process which were undesirable.
Results of the VDF recruitment process declared a few days back could not have been done after proper screening in compliance with due procedures and rules, Indrani said.
Many candidates who failed in physical test were included in the list of selected candidates, she claimed.
Because of such anomalies in the recruitment process, there were many cases of drug abuse, immoral conduct and harassment of women involving VDF personnel, Indrani alleged.
Saying that are matters which can sully image of the high-ranking officers of Police Department, she said that physical efficiency test conducted for several days should be given its due importance.
She also appealed to the authority concerned to complete recruitment processes pending in Health and Education Departments.
She further appealed to all concerned not to make back-door appointments.
