Imphal, June 21:
The proscribed UNLF has demanded immediate release of class IX student of Martin Grammar School Kakching, Jangvei Rengwin s/o Loveson Jangvei and SK Shangjang Lamkang of Thamlakhuren village, Pallel.
A statement issued by UNLF's Senior Publicity Officer Ksh Yoiheiba warned one Wangkhem Jeni alias Jenio s/o Tomchou of MU 1st Gate Canchipur to release the student still kept in hiding after he was kidnapped from the gate of his own home on June 16 .
It further warned Jeni to surrender to the outfit within five days.
Taking strong exception to W Jeni's act of kidnapping and keeping hostage of a school student thereby instilling a sense of fear to the young boy, Yoiheiba warned that Jeni should acknowledge the gravity of his crime and release the student accordingly.
Maintaining that the family members of Jeni should take due responsibility to secure the release of the hostage, the outfit called upon all his friends and colleagues not to help or encourage Jeni in his criminal activities.
In case Jeni refuses to pay heed to the warning and fails to surrender within the deadline set, not only Jeni but also all his accomplices who provided support and encouragement to Jeni in kidnapping the student will be awarded befitting punishment.
The family member of the accused should also take due cognizance of the warning, asserted Yoiheiba while appealing to the family of the kidnapped student to remain calm and put their emotions under control.
