Imphal, November 09:
To protest the lackadaisical attitude of the State Government to the demands for providing better infrastructure and release of relevant allowances, Joint Committee of Employees of medical and Family Welfare Departments has begun a ceasework strike from today.
The agitation covers abstention from duties at Out Patients Department under the two medical departments, said a statement issued by the Committees publicity section.
The statement added that the stir will be intensified and all hospitals and other medical institutions will be closed down if the Government does not concede to their demands by November 16.Regretting that the agitation will cause inconveniences to the general public, the Committee fervently appealed to all concerned to bear the consequences as the body has been constrained to take recourse to such a step as the Government has been turning a deaf ear to the genuine demands of the health workers for quite a long time now.
