Imphal, November 09:
With lack of adequate and required facilities becoming the norm rather than an exception at the State Government run-JN Hospital at Porompat, one should give a second thought before admitting a patient for treatment at the hospital.
A reliable source disclosed that family members have even taken out the patients from the hospital stealthily and admitted to other hospitals and clinics, as they feel treatment at foul-smelling hospital might not be of any help to the patients.
The source informed that the hospital having 50 to 60 specialists, has ceased to conduct operation on patients since November 3 as there is no Oxygen.
All the cases which required operation are being referred to RIMS hospital and others.
The required Oxygen gas to the hospital is said to be supplied by a firm located at MG Avenue.
Besides lack of Oxygen, the machines for CT Scan and Ultrasound of the hospital have been out of service for the last 5-6 months.
As there is no adequate X-ray film and ECG papers, the hospital avoided taking up any cases related to X-Ray and ECG most of the time, the source said The beds provided to the patients are also reportedly to be all rusted due to negligence and the walls of the hospital building broken at many places.
There is no regular power supply during the night, the source said.
The drainage system around the hospital too has been clogged and the accumulated filth spilled over the entrance of Casualty ward.
