To the great relief of the officials of the State Health Services, the test report of the samples collected from an Assam Rifles personnel, who was suspected to have died from Swine Flu, at Leimakhong Military Hospital in the night of August 28 has returned negative.
Posted in Singnat of Churachandpur district, Sushilkumar Negi, an Assam Rifles personnel, passed away at Leimakhong Military Hospital in the night on August 28.Suspecting that he might have died from Swine Flu, samples collected from his body, were sent for laboratory testing to the National Institute of Communicable Disease (NICD) on August 31 .
According to Dr Th Bhubonchandra, who is the Nodal Officer of the State Swine Flu Control Unit, set up under the State Health Services Department, the report of the laboratory test on the samples collected from Sushilkumar Negi was received late evening yesterday and the result was negative, thus confirming that Sushilkumar did not die from Swine Flu infection.
Meanwhile, PIB Defence Wing in a statement explained that Rifleman SK Negi was admitted to Military Hospital at Leimakhong on August 27 with complaints of fever and cough and he was diagnosed with AC Interstitial Pneumonia with Multi Organ Failure and succumbed to his illness the following the day.
The sample collected from him were sent by the Health Department for testing of possible H1N1 influenza and have been reported negative.
Hence, it is confirmed that the individual died not from Swine Flu, the statement added.
