North East Dialogue Forum has demanded that Detail Project Report (DPR) and Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) should be translated into major languages � Manipuri and other dialects, specially Hmar and Rongmei and made the copies available to the people in Manipur.
A statement issued by convenor of the NEDF, U Nobokishore conveyed that the translated version of the DPR and EIA should also be published in the leading local and national newspapers by the NHPC.
The statement urged for the conduct of free and fair public hearing at the public places.
"There should be free, fair, informed consent of the people in Manipur under the guideline of ILO convention 107 and International Treaty, ie, International Covenant of all Forms of Racial Discrimination," it conveyed.
The NEDF statement noted as an alternative, there is potential for constructing of 30 Hydel Projects which can produce more than 300 MW which will be sufficient for the people of Manipur.
It observed that the same will reduce risks involve in the construction of High Dam.
