Imphal, May 03:
Following the path that passed the region way back in 1996, the much looked-forward to Miss North East pageant is all set to take place on May 19 next at Kohima, the hilly state capital of Nagaland.
During 1996 contest, three beautiful belles from Manipur took part but none of them got a commendable prize except the miss photogenic title.
A major socialite event of the region is once again being hosted by the beauty & aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN) as part of the quasi-centennial celebration of Kohima town of Nagaland.
According to a press information issued by the convener Publicity Committee for Miss NE 2004, all the eight sister states have already confirmed their participation in the event., Hectic preparations are underway and organizers say that construction of the hall at Kohima local ground is expected to be finished three days ahead of the show to facilitate sufficient full dress rehearsals.
This, according to them, is to ensure a perfect show as well as to impress upon special guests from the mainland and other states that 'peace is finally here', and that we can 'hold our own in show business'.
The society had also earlier hosted the 1996 Miss North East.
One obvious and positive improvement in this year's contest will be the use of computers in the judging process.
The appropriate software programme has been indigenously developed and is under post-developmental trail.
It may be recalled that the Society has gone on the line with the recent launch of its own website http://www.basnonline.com but presently there is no pictures of the participants till this evening on the web.
Members reported that about five hundred and above hits within few days of its launch and say that, going by the comments, the forthcoming event is 'whipping up tornado of excitement around the region, and even as far as Italy.
They have informed that regular updates on the event and related matters would be uploaded to the site for convenience and information of the public.
