Imphal, June 29 2010:
Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) today demanded an inquiry by a committee of the state Legislative Assembly into the controversy in the declaration of results of the DPC for the appointment of primary teachers in the Education (School) Department.

The controversy in the declaration of the results of the DPC surfaced when Ministers tried to snatch their "quotas" in the appointment of the teachers, asserted the general secretary.
He recalled that the process for the DPC started from 2006 .
The written test for the appointment of primary teachers was held on December 22, 2006, and the result of the test was declared on April 16, 2007 .
But the viva-voce was held after two years of delay from February 6 to August 20, 2009.But the result was kept undeclared for a long time till date.
It was on April 22 this year that the candidates who appeared in the DPC converged at the Education (S) Department, Lamphel and waited till late night for the results to be declared.
The DESAM General Secretary further said that the result was not declared when some ministers, who had knowledge of the result before it was displayed on the notice board, put pressure on the people concerned not to declare the result for failing to include candidates recommended by them in the prepared results.
Thus declaration of the result was stopped from further publication of the same, Angamba charged.
Reiterating that the results were concealed by the ministers on the ground that candidates recommended by them were not included in the list, the general secretary observed that after the Hueiyen Lanpao publicized the result with a report behind the screen, the faith that kept to the ruling SPF government by the people have been lost.
Transfer of three officers of the Education (s) department after controversy surface with publication of DPC results of primary teacher appointment by a daily is an act to save corrupted ministers and MLAs by making then escape goat.
Mention may be made that by an order of the department of personnel issued on June 26 had effected transfer and posting of director of education M Harekrishna, additional director (valley) Hareshwor Goshami and additional director (hills) C Hangshing.
They were transferred in the name of finding out the truth behind the leaking of the DPC results.
It amount to cheat the people.
DESAM is demanding a house committee of the Manipur Legislative Assembly should inquire into the controversy with the view to stop converting education department a income earning centre.
State governor should also interfere into the matter, he opined adding that the instance has also exposed the bribery and corruption practices of the ministers, MLAs and governance people that they are trying to appoint their men only in the recruitment of government jobs.
The ugly happening in the state education department has also hurt the sentiments of the people who wanted and efforting to bring quality education in the state.
It also dragged down the society.
