International Day against Drug Abuse was marked by organising a series of lectures and awareness programme by 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(S).
All the schools and colleges of Chandel District headquarter were selected as prime targets to influence the young minds and dissuade them from the usage of drugs and injectables.
The gathering of approximately 700-800 person bore the testimony of the success of effort to reach out to the masses to spread the awareness.
Speaking on the occasion, Commandant 42 Assam Rifles urged people to be aware of these menaces and stay away from them.
The lectures were followed free Medical Camp and refreshments for the attendees.
Pamphlets were distributed and banners were placed at prominent places to spread the message.
Similarly, 15 Assam Rifles conducted a seminar at Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School Youth Club, Thoubal on 26 Jun 2010.75 persons attended the event with interest In another occasion, International day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed by 39 Assam Rifles at Jawaharlal Nehru hospital.
On this occasion a blood donation camp was also organized at the hospital by the unit in which the officers and Jawans actively participated.
