Imphal, June 29 2010:
Terming as unfortunate the leaking and publication of the select list of the primary teachers in a local daily before the results were announced officially by the Govt, Education Minister L Jayantakumar has categorically stated that the said result can never be implemented.
Speaking as guest of honour of the annual prize distribution function of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur at the hall of JN Manipur Dance Academy here today, the Education Minister contended that the results have been published unofficially in the interest of some people.
To find out who are behind leaking the list and the subsequent publication of the results in the local daily, a committee headed by Chief Secretary as the chairman has been constituted, and based on the report of the committee necessary action would be taken up against the officials and staff of the department who were found involved in the matter.
Stating that recruitment of the primary teachers would be purely on merit basis, the Minister appealed to the people to have no doubt over this.
The Minister further said that the declaration of the recruitment results of teachers under ADC had been withheld because of the ADC election.
Since the election is over, efforts were being made for declaration of the results.
However, the present issue has again caused disturbance in the declaration of the results.
Sincerity of the officers and staff working in the Education Department is essential for making the Department to live up to the expectation of the people, the Minister added.
The State Govt has been working on this line and efforts are also being made for imparting necessary training to teachers, he said.
In his address as chief guest of the function, Governor Gurbachan Jagat observed that when compared with last year, the pass percentage in the Ist division of Board examination is low and that of 2nd division is high.
This could probably be reflective of the disturbances prevailing in the academic scenario before the examination.
Apart from felicitating the 10 top meritorious students with awards, 21 other awards given to different categories by donors of different trusts were also presented at the occasion.
