Barely a day after some expensive goods worth Rs.15,000 sent by post from Bangalore were found missing at Imphal Head Post Office, another parcel containing woolen shawls worth about Rs.50,000 posted from New Delhi to Imphal was found packed with bits of hard paper only with no sign of any shawls.
The parcel weighing about seven kilograms was sent by one Dolen from New Delhi to the proprietor of Sumit Collections M Nilakumar Sharma of Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak on November 20 last.
The recipient collected the parcel from Imphal Head Post Office on December 4.But to his extreme surprise, he discovered the parcel packed with 2.9 kilograms of hard paper instead of the shawls.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Proprietor of Sumit Collections M Nilakumar said that there is a strong suspicion about the existence of a gang of thieves in the Post Office.
There have been many cases of goods sent by post stolen.
Such theft cannot be done by any other person other than the employees of Post Office.
The authorities concerned should conduct inquiries and bust the gang involved in stealing goods from the posted parcels, he added.
