Imphal, April 11:
In a well planned move, four persons masquerading as passengers have stolen a brand new DI Spacio vehicle (MN 01 K5189) by offering tea laced with sleep inducing drugs to the driver of the vehicle.
The owner of the vehicle has been identified as Ph Kiran Sharma of Uripok Huidrom Leikai while the driver is one B Samsom Sharma of Bamon Leikai.
Ph Kiran said that the vehicle was bought on March 15 and the same had been plying taxi between Imphal and Moreh till it was stolen on April 6 at Deopani Durga Mandir in Assam.
According to driver B Samson Sharma four non Manipuris who spoke both Manipuri and Madrassi approached him at Moreh parking on April 4 and hired his vehicle for a to and fro journey to Guwahati from Moreh for a wedding trip.
After agreeing to their proposal, he along with the four left Moreh on the same day and reached Guwahati the following day, Samson said.
The four persons then picked up three more persons including the bride and the bridegroom from Guwahati Railway station and started their journey back to Moreh.
During the journey, they stopped at Deopani Durga Mandir in Assam at around 7 am on the pretext of offering some prayers at the temple.
After the prayers, the passengers then asked the driver to join them and have a cup of tea with them inside a hotel located near the temple.
Upon their request, he entered the hotel and had a glass of red tea which had already been placed at the table before his arrival.
A few minutes after the drink, he started feeling drowsy and fell into a deep sleep inside his vehicle.
However when he regained consciousness at around 4 pm of the same day, he found himself at Dimapur Nepali Basti, added Samson.
