Imphal, September 11, 2009:
Even as renowned newspapers based in different countries have strongly condemned the July 23 Khwairamband killing, Ibobi's police commandos have not restrained themselves from committing crimes.
The outfit cited the case of 11 year old Salam Bidyarani who was allegedly detained in police custody for 4/5 days after her father could not be apprehended.
The girl was released only her parents were arrested.
This was a serious crime that went against all international laws.
The cruelty of some sections of Manipur showed that they no longer belonged to the Manipuri society.
Those police commandos indulging in various criminal activities and extortion have turned into the proverbial black sheep and they are responsible for the unprecedented misery being endured by the people.
They should be taught a befitting lesson so that they regain their conscience.
For fear of these commandos, the common people are apprehensive of going around with little amount or a little costly mobile phone.
The outfit alleged that some personnel of the state police have been extorting from the public wearing black clothes and using any name which appeared like any insurgent group.
They were involved in opening fire and setting off bombs in localities inhabited by civilians with a sinister design to keep away the people from the liberation movement.
They allegedly opened fire at offices of media houses in a bid to intimidate the media fraternity so that the truth can be turned into falsehood and vice versa.
The grenade attack undertaken by a rogue IRB personnel at Chamber of Commerce Hospital on August 21 was a conspiracy to sideline the people's movement against the July 23 killings.
It was drama enacted by Ibobi's group, it alleged.
The drama was enacted to launch a propaganda that insurgents blew off bomb in crowded place causing injuries and deaths to innocent people.
Saying that insurgents groups have been restraining themselves from attacking state forces as a matter of principle, the outfit asked what would be the result if the insurgents too started targeting state forces in the same manner they have been killing innocent civilians under fictitious charges.
But the UNLF would not like to inflict the pain and anguish of losing a son, husband or a father to innocent people.
It would do wise on the part of the police commandos to keep in mind that insurgents have been restraining themselves from attacking police commandos not because they are not capable but thinking for the society which includes families of police commandos too.
Chief Minister O Ibobi and the top police officials should know that the existing insurgent groups have sufficient capability to reduce the strength of police commandos considerably within a specific period of time, in case they wish so.
In such a case, the loser would be only 'our society' and the winner would be the Government of India.
Saying that police commandos should stop killing innocent people immediately, the outfit called upon families of commandos to give a serious thought on the matter.
The UNLF would not decry when a genuine armed insurgent is killed because the insurgent is paying with his/her life for liberation of the people.
But no insurgent group can tolerate the act of levelling false charges after killing innocent persons.
Accusing the DGP of making such false allegations like 'arms were recovered from the slain individual and that he had connection with UG group', the UNLF remarked that the DGP's contention of the Tehelka's photos being doctored only exposed the DGP's character.
In the 'political business', there is not much difference between O Ibobi and his Ministers and MLAs.
The Government of India would not flinch a bit at the turmoil besetting the state for it is their secret policy to suppress the liberation movement by fuelling internecine killings.
That way why the maximum number of gallantry awards (police medals) were given to Manipur Police for killing their own people, the outfit alleged.
Calling upon the people to intensify the mass movement to the highest level to punish Ibobi and his supporters and also to drive back security forces, the outfit asserted that it's time to show to the world that 'we are a peace loving nation but can be ferocious to the extreme if challenged'.
Claiming that the Government of India does not have the strength to defeat a Utoop Lan, the UNLF asked the people to recall the strategy used by Hirachandra against Burmese soldiers during the period of Seven Years Devastation.
Further calling upon the people to join the liberation movement with the firm conviction that 'we can win', the outfit extended its hand to other outfits to wage a joint war against the Government of India and their agents.
