The Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram is said to be disturbed over the grave situation in Manipur, according to the president of BJP Manipur Pradesh, H Borbabu, who along with other leaders of the state and the Central BJP leaders, met the Union Home Minister in Delhi recently.
Addressing a press meet today at the party office located at Nityapat Chuthek here, H.Borbabu, president of BJP Manipur Pradesh, said that a team of BJP leaders of Manipur and its Central leaders had briefed the Union Home Minister of the situation in Manipur during a 45-minute audition with him on September 7. He said the BJP delegates had also pressurised the Home Minister for the ouster of O Ibobi from his post, and urged him for the imposition of President's Rule in Manipur.
The Union Home Minister was also reported to have expressed worry over the prevailing law and order situation of Manipur.
According to Borbabu, Chidambaram was also said to have sought the cooperation of the delegates in bringing normalcy in the deteriorated Manipur.
He was also said to be serious over the matters presented by the BJP team.
The BJP team could not meet the Prime Minister however.
Borbabu said though the team could not get an audience with the PM, a copy of the memorandum � which was submitted to the Union Home Minister � was also submitted to the PM.
The BJP team had also met the State Governor during their stay in New Delhi.
Failure of law and order in the state aftermath the Khwirmaband incident exposure, the killing trend in state, involvement of state force personnel in criminal activities, the militant-politicians nexus, corruption in recruitment in government departments, killings of people in the name of counter insurgency, were among others, the issues put before the Union Home Minister, Borbabu said.
Briefing the Union home minister of the situation in the state after the 'fake encounter' incident on July 23 in which Manipur police commandos killed a surrendered militant at BT Road, Imphal, the BJP team had informed the Union home minister that the law and order in the state has totally collapsed under the government led by chief minister O.Ibobi Singh, said Borobabu.
Speaking on the occasion, Ex-CM W.Nipamacha said that the BJP team had urged the Union Home Minister to dismiss the SPF government and impose President's Rule in order to facilitate better governance in the state.
Former president of BJP Manipur Pradesh, M Bhorot said he told the Home Minister that even if the SPF government is elected government of the people, the government under the leadership of Ibobi has done whatever of their likes.
