All Tribal Disabled Union, Manipur (ATDUM) has called a "Chaka bandh" for 48 hours from September 13 against the failure of the government to provide 3% reservation to the tribal disabled persons for the recruitment of primary teachers under Autonomous District Counci.
The ATDUM would also boycott the recruitment of primary teachers.
Addressing the press conference in Imphal, the president of ATDUM stated that 3% reservation is yet to be provided for disabled persons.
Failure to comply with the reservation of 3% of posts for persons with disabilities would compel ATDUM to take legal action under the violation of section 33 and 36 of the persons with Disabilities (Equal opportunities, Protection of Rights and full Participation) Act, 1995, stated the president of ATDUM.
The ATDUM further informed that it had sent a letter to the director, department of social welfare, government of Manipur to re-notify the recent vacant posts for the recruitment/requisition of candidates (ICDS) for the post of supervisor, statistical assistant, LDC and grade IV in the social welfare department before scheduling the time of DPC.
