In an interesting development to the more than a month old mass agitations demanding ouster of chief minister, O Ibobi Singh, prayer to almighty seeking blessing to people's demand, which would be performed at 108 local worshipping places kicked off Friday.
Meanwhile, reaction to reported content in the affidavit of state police chief in the court alleging that photographs and reports appeared in the Tehelka news magazine which exposed the killing of former militant Ch Sanjit as makeup report pouring down.
The prayer to almighty kicked off today morning under the aegis of the JAC formed in connection with the killing of Ch Sanjit in the alleged fake encounter at Khwairamband Bazar on July 23.Prayer was performed at seven different temples �at Lai Awangba, Lamlong Keithel Lairembi, Khurai Puthiba and Lainingthou Lai Ahanba, Khurai Chingangbam Leikai.
Convener, Th Anita of the JAC said that they have taken up the step as "almighty could influence in softening the ear of the governance and hear the hue and cry of the people".
She said, the prayer will be conducted at 108 temples of almighty (Umang Lai in Manipuri) across the state which indigenous people of Manipur keeping equal faiths even though they have followed different modern religions.
Mention may be made here that even though indigenous people of Manipur had followed Hindu and Christian, they particularly Meetei and Kabui are still worshiping indigenous God of forefathers.
Women members of the Zeliangrong Union (ZU), Imphal Zone and Kabui Mother Association (KMA), Imphal also joined in performing the prayers today led by the convener of the JAC against the Brutal Killing of Sanjit by police commandos on July 23. They prayed the almighty to bless the leaders and all ranks to befall the misfortune suffer to their families too and give strength to the people to bear with the atrocities meted out by the government and bless with getting justice.
On the other hand, statement of the state DGP, Y Joykumar in his affidavit to the court with regarding to the hearing on July 23 case which stated that Tehelka's reports and photographs as makeup ones received strong criticism from various civil organization apart from the Apunba Lup, which already reacted the statement after it appeared in the locals newspaper on September 10 issued.
A statement of the Union of Social Upliftment (USU), expressed that the DGP's statement showed that governance is not serious about doing wrong to the people.
They lacked sincerity in serving the people.
If the Tehelka report is a fake one then, the police commandos involved in the shooting would be fake police personnel.
Then why these fake police commandos are still given arrest and tried under the law of the land, the statement asked.
