State sports minister, N Biren has said that the two successful state boxers from the state in the just concluded Asian championships held at Zhuhai in China, gold medalist Mayengbam Suranjoy and silver medalist Thokchom Nanao will be felicitated by the government and give advantages whatever that can be given by the government.
The minister speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function a mini stadium cum community hall at Mayang Imphal Konchak organized by the Konchak Youth Development Committee and Mayang Imphal Youth Association said he feel satisfied with the achievement of the sportspersons from Manipur in winning the gold medal in the international level after 15 years of gap.
The two boxers who brought fame not only for the state but also for the country will be given all the benefits given by the state government to those sportspersons who participated in national and international championship.
The sports minister also lauded that Mayang Imphal is a palace where there is enough potential and producing talented sports persons of the state at the national and international level.
Talking at length on the works to be taken up in Mayang Imphal Assembly constituency, minister Biren said that the permanent embankment of banks of Imphal river passing through the Mayang Imphal where frequent breach occur will be taken up.
He also informed that currently the work of embankment with retaining wall of the Imphal river from Koirengei to Lilong is under progress at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore.
After completing the same embankment of remaining part of the river will be taken up with Rs 50 crore amount.
Works minister, K Ranjit who also attended the function said that the AFSPA which people wanted to repeal will go alone if there is no violence.
The Act has been repealed from seven assembly segments located within the Imphal Municipality area.
But, violence activities continued in the place and bomb attack at the state Assembly complex had conducted.
In this situation, if the Act be lifted from the entire state what the condition would be.
People need to consider it, the minister observed.
Ranjit also said that there is no issue related with the slicing of territorial integrity of the state.
People of 28 assembly constituency have ousted the person who boldly talked of breaking the boundary of the state.
People have shown that they do not want to break the territorial integrity of the state.
He further talking on the development works taken up by the government said that SPF government is giving emphasis in improving the road connectivity for bringing balance development in both hills and valley areas of the state.
Chairman, MANIUTRON, MLA Kh Ratankumar who also took part in the inauguration function said that the inauguraiton of the hall cum mini stadium will solve the inconviniences of the people of the area for not having a meeting place which can cpacity of 1000 people at a time.
The stadium cum community hall was constructed with the funds from the MLA local area development and its work agency was Manipur
Development Agency.
