Informing the UCM is all set for the observation of the "Great June Uprising" on June 18 at Kekrupat, the body has called all section of the society to attend the function cancelling all works of life on the day.
Addressing a press conference held today at Kekrupat where the memorial site stands, president of the UCM and "The Great June Uprising Day 2009 Observation Committee chairman, Yumnamcha Dilip informed that the body has completed all the arrangement for the observation of the day at Kekrupat and invited people of all section of the society to turn up and participate in offering floral tributes to the memorials of the 18 persons who scarified their life for the territorial integrity of the state.
He further informed that for the convenient of the people to take part in the observation a total of 1145 vehicles (bus, canter, DI Tata, Tata Magic, Jeep, Van, Auto-rickshaw) contributed by various transports societies will be in operation for picking up and dropping the people after participation in the observation.
On the occasion, a blood donation camp will also be organized at the office of the Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) at Minuthong, Dilip said.
He also said that UCM in collaboration with various department of the state government is trying to develop more the memorial site.
Apart from this, many trees of rare species imported from outside the state have been planted and also trying to plant more indigenous tree variety inside the complex.
Horticulture department has agreed to develop a rose garden on the western side of the Kekrupat.
But a perfect works for beautification of the site will be taken up after discussion with the departments under the state government, he added.
Reiterating that UCM is all set to observe the 8th June Uprising Day, he said for successful conduct of the observation, a committee of 11 members have been constituted.
On the occasion, UCM will also present a simple gift to each family of those 18 people who scarified their live for the sake of the territorial integrity of the state.
To participate the observation day, Dilip further informed that Meetei from Assam, Bangladesh, Brahmaputra valley, Moreh and other parts have also intimated to come in the state and take part in offering floral tributes.
