Imphal, May 03 2010:
Job card holders under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) in Khaidem Mayai Leikai Ward No II of Ngairangbam Gram Panchayat have been allegedly denied the prescribed number of work days.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at Manipur Press Club here today, secretary of Khaidem Apunba Sinmi Lup H Binarani has drawn the attention of the authorities for taking up necessary action.
The job card holders are supposed to be granted 100 days of work.
But none of them have been ever provided with the prescribed number of work days.
Moreover, there is also disparity in the allotment of work days among the job card holders with some job card holders being given more number of work days than the others in the muster roll form, Binarani alleged.
During the fiscal year 2008-2009, the job card holders have been given work days for only 92 days and till the end of the financial year 2009-2010 in March 31, they have provided only 65 work days, Binarani informed, adding that the work days of 2009-10 have also been allocated in piecemeal starting from February 11 only and that also after lodging complaint.
