Imphal, May 03 2010:
Maintaining that the problems of non-Manipuris would be a determinant in deciding the future destiny of the Manipuri nation, the proscribed KCP has called upon all to resolve the issue (of non-Manipuris) collectively.
A press release issued by Yaiphaba, assistant secretary of Tabungba of the outfit's information and public relations department said that the people of Manipur have been enduring extreme hardships as a result of the 'merger' of Manipur into the Indian Union.
"If we try to run away from this socio-political situation, instead of taking on this challenge head-on, we would be only selling ourselves to the Indian regime", the outfit maintained.
Should Manipur become a sovereign nationality acceptable to the international norms, then the people of Manipur must overcome the issue of the influx of non-local people who have usurped all sorts of occupation of the local people besides posing a big threat to the movement for right to self-determination, it asserted.
Yet, the KCP never sees non-local labourers as enemies.
But the KCP is constrained to take a resolution to convince the non-local labourers to leave Manipur as their permanent settlement in the State would pose a serious threat to the national identity of Manipur.
It also appealed to the Maoists/Naxalites to adopt a correct decision on the issue keeping in mind the collective wish of the people who have been struggling for sovereignty of Manipur.
The advice to non-local people to leave Manipur is for their welfare, it asserted.
Maintaining that it never killed a single non-Manipuri, the outfit alleged that it was police commandos in the garb of civilians who shot dead non-Manipuris in the heart of Imphal town.
Such killings were carried out with a nefarious design to re-impose AFSPA in Imphal area on the excuse that insurgency problem has grown worse.
This was also a conspiracy to nullify the nine-year long campaign of Irom Chanu Sharmila against the notorious AFSPA.
The outfit further clarified that it does not have any connection with JAC constituted against blockade of roadways due to construction work of JNIMS.
The claim that the JAC had connections with the party was only continuation of the practice of State forces to harass and detain people under false accusations, it contended.
