Imphal, April 21 2010:
Even as relief materials to storm affected localities are yet to reach, another strong gale played havoc in many localities of Chandel district yesterday.
Chandel A/C MLA Thangkholun Haokip visited the storm ravaged localities today.
At Leingangching village, where the gale devastated most, the MLA assured the worried victims that he would do the needful so that the villagers get relief from the State Government.
Leingangching village Chief informed the visiting MLA that 26 houses out of total 76 houses of the village were damaged by the violent storm.
After listening to the grievances of the villagers, the MLA directed them to prepare a list of the affected households.
The MLA appealed the villagers to accept the aid whatever the Government extends to them without complaining much.
He said that the State Government is facing shortage of fund.
He announced that as per proposal submitted to the Government, every village of Chandel A/C would now have a water supply scheme.
The required pipes for the said scheme would reach the villages soon, he added.
MLA Thangkholun Haokip also assured that the roof of the village community hall would be fixed in a way that even strong gale may not blow away the CGI sheets.
