A 10-day long Integrated Mime Workshop for the special children (deaf) and adolescent, 2010 has begun from today at Government Dance College here.
The workshop is being organised jointly by the Indian Mime Repertory Theatre, Kolkata and Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory, Imphal and is being sponsored by Nehru Memorial Library, New Delhi.
The inaugural function of the workshop was attended by Director of Kalashetra, Manipur H Kanhailal as chief guest, principal of Government Dance College Ranjit Adhikari as guest of honour and Director of Indian Mime Theatre, Kolkata Niranjan Goswami as functional president.
In connection with the workshop, Director of Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory Dr Yumnam Sadananda Singh said that 35 children in the age group of 10 to 18 years are participating in the workshop.
Out of the 35 participants three of them are special children (deaf).
The main objective of the workshop is to provide a platform to these children to explore their artistic talents and understand the art form of mine and its culture.
