Imphal, April 21 2010:
Asserting that the Naga people have no choice but to reconcile and not revert to the days of fatricidal killings, Kilonser of the NSCN (K), Y Wangtin Naga has stated that anyone who is against the reconciliation process is anti-Naga.
Quoting Wangtin Naga, the Ministry of Information and Publicity of the outfit said, "I felt most privileged to meet Uncle Th Muivah, the General Secretary of the NSCN (IM) on April 10, 2010 at Hebron.
I was very happy to receive the message of 'best regards' from him for Chairman SS Khaplang and Gen Kholi (C-in-C), GPRN/NSCN, which I have already passed" .
Appreciating the reception accorded at Hebron, the NSCN (K) Kilonser said that the suggestion of Muivah that Khaplang and Kholi should seek him should not mean that they should join his (Muivah) faction.
"Rather I want to mean that during their live time they must meet and reconcile with one another which will make Nagas one family," said the statement quoting Wangtin Naga.
The NSCN (K) senior leader also expressed his gratitude to the top leaders of the IM group, particularly Isaac Chisi Swu and Th Muivah for their message.
"We must all respect the covenant of reconciliation signed by Isaac Swu, SS Khaplang and Brig (Retd) Shingnya," he added.
Asserting that the reconciliation process should not be jeopardised, Wangtin Naga said that the Naga people should not forget the contributions of Quaker friends, American Baptist Churches who worked tirelessly to bring peace in Nagaland.
"The present peace has been achieved with a heavy price and no one should destroy it.
Killing must be treated as a dreadful history of the past.
With tears in our eyes, we must remember our dear ones whom we lost in our own hands for no fault of theirs but for vengeance," observed the statement.
Hailing the efforts of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation under the convenorship of Dr Wati Aier, the NSCN (K) Kilonser said that all must co-operate for the good of the Naga people.
Elucidating his idea of reconciliation, Wangtin Naga said, "Reconciliation to me is, surrendering of sum total of one's authority and power for common good and not that one group surrenders before the other" .
Everyone must have equal responsibility in ushering peace and coming together.
No one can justify his own group to be the right one or mandated one, same as no Jewish could come forward to stone Samaria woman on charges of adultery in the face of Jesus Christ who only instructed them to stone first by one who have never committed a sin," observed the NSCN (K) Kilonser.
