Chairman of the Hill Areas Committee of Manipur Assembly, MLA Thangminlen Kipgen today donated five oxygen cylinder sets and a refrigerator costing around Rs 65,000 to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital, Imphal.
The MLA handed over to the hospital materials in a function held at the office chamber of the medical superintendent of the hospital.
Kipgen handed over the materials to superintendent Dr Y Mohen and hospital staffs.
Speaking on the occasion, Thangminlen Kipgen said he has donated the materials acknowledging the services of the hospital all section of the society with no bar of difference of communities, poor and rich.
The oxygen cylinder will help at least to save life of some of the people in the hospital, he hoped.
He also observed the RIMS hospital which served the people of all communities coming up across the state is like a sacred place of Manipur integrity.
The responsibility of the keeping neat and clean is not only for the staffs and employees of the hospital but also for the people.
Expressing gratitude to the honesty of the MLA, RIMS medical superintendent, Y Mohen said, MLA Thangminlen Kipgen is the only elected member even in the state Assembly to donate such essential items to the hospital.
Any of the MLAs of pass and present had never donated any kinds of materials to the hospital.
The donation of the oxygen cylinder will relief the hospital in providing emergency need of the same at the time of bringing up people wounded in accidents and Asthma patient.
The hospital has only seven cylinders.
Owing to this shortage old aged men suffering from asthma brought up in the hospital during the cold season in good number, the hospital staff faced shortage of oxygen cylinder to support them, he further observed.
Taking advantage of the function, Mohen further said that the RIMS has opened a special clinic for treatment of mental problem people and biofeedback treatment under the department of clinical psychology.
The clinic is opening from 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm everyday.
He further said that child welfare clinic under the special clinic will be opened on every Monday, counseling of substantial abuse, HIV/AIDS on Tuesday, Sexual clinic on Wednesday, neuropsychology on Thursday, family and marital counseling clinic on Friday while on every Saturday, the clinic for trends management will be opened.
Parking of private vehicles inside the RIMS hospital complex will also be ban from September 1, he said citing that the step has been taken up considering the increasing incident of blasting bombs and thieving of vehicles inside the hospital is on the rise, he added.
The ban will be relaxed for the RIMS staffs, VIPs and media persons, he added.
