Top bureaucrat officers of the Manipur government today donated 37 units of blood during a blood donation camp organized at the Old Secretariat conference hall.
The camp was as a part of promoting voluntary blood donation in the state and to create awareness among the people that blood is the greatest gift one can give to humanity and organized by the Manipur State AIDS Control Society and State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC) in association with Blood Bank, JN Hospital.
This is the first time that any such campaign was done at the state secretariat, organizers said.
State chief secretary, DS Poonia took the lead in donating blood today.
Apart from inaugurating the camp, he was also the first donor of blood in the camp held at the conference hall of Old Secretariat.
In all 37 units of blood were collected during the camp, said the official organizing the camp.
Top officials of the Manipur government including Shambu Singh, commissioner (Higher Education), V Vumlunmang, Commissioner (Health and Family Welfare), president, MACS, K moses Chalai, commissioner CADA, Dr Prem, Project Direcotr, Sarva shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Pradeep Kumar Jha, project director, MACS, deputy commissioner of Ukhrul and Churachandpur, director of school education, assistant commissioner, Tamenglong, officers of Manipur Finance Services besides officials and staff of MACS, employees of the state secretariat ad voluntary blood donors donated blood in the camp.
